Flagler Beach, FL – The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is proud to be organizing the Book Drive for Bunnell Elementary School for the fifth year in a row.

“By Friday, June 1st we need 1,200 books, or we won’t be able to donate any books,” says organizer Tom Gillin. “If we can’t provide every elementary school student with a book, we will have to cancel the giveaway,” adds Gillin.

The group brought the books that they’ve collect so far, an estimated 800-1,000, to Bunnell Elementary this week for an exact inventory to see how many more books they will need. First estimates are that the group will need and additional 400 or more books.

Organizers of the event say that the expressions on the faces of the children when they pick out their own free book are priceless.

Reading is a fundamental skill-builder. It improves vocabulary, lets the reader learn how other counties and cultures live, and even reduces stress. Reading also improves concentration and focus, and builds self-esteem and confidence.

If you would like to help the Rotary reach their goal of 1,500 books by June 1st, 2012, please drop your new or gently used elementary school age books off at the City of Flagler Beach City Hall, located at 105 South 2nd Street in Flagler Beach.
