The largest poetry slam in Philly will land in its new home, the White Space at the Crane Old School, 1417 N. 2nd Street, in Northern Liberties. A unique poetry workshop led by Nafis begins at 7:30. From 7:30 to 8:30pm, Angel facilitates a writing workshop that is free for attendees of The Pigeon Presents: The Philadelphia Poetry Slam. At 9, Nafis performs original work, headlining the monthly poetry slam, a competition between poets performing original work judged by members of the audience.

“The poets will be bringing their best in hopes of securing a spot in our semi finals.” Says co-founder and slam poetry champion Alyesha "Ms." Wise. “Top finishers from semis will compete at the grand slam finals to represent Philly at The Southern Fried Poetry Slam, this June, in Tampa, FL.”

“These tremendous poets are drawing crowds we didn’t anticipate." Says co-founder Jacob Winterstein. “The White Space at the Crane Arts Old School is the perfect fit for The Pigeon. It’s spacious and the Crane is an artistic hub.”
