Station curator Greg Wilson says the not-for-profit station is a labor of love. "Sure, it's a lot of work to build 40-hour playlists, cut promos and station IDs, and constantly promote via social media, but the real benefit is to share lesser-known regional artists across the country and around the globe."
Part of the Live365 network of independent broadcasters, you can tune in to DKFM anytime and hear such artists as M83 and My Bloody Valentine alongside new viral Italian band Be Forest and the new Fierce Creatures single. "We do have an aesthetic that draws a straight line from the 4AD-era sound of the late 80's and 90's to the independent shoegaze and dream pop releases of today," Wilson said. "It's just an added benefit to be able to promote some of the talented artists in our own backyard to the wider world."
While popular to a point, the addition of DKFM to iTunes Radio extends the reach of the broadcast to a much wider audience. "We're extremely proud to be affiliated with iTunes Radio, as we've been huge fans for many years," Wilson said. "This was just the icing on the cake of our experience."
