Supervisor Smith performs random property checks and responds to alarms in the HIA. Various measures are taken, based on the specific security needs of clients, to make properties more suited for detecting illegal activities. Due to an ongoing surge of criminal activity in the area, the supervisor had been working closely with the client to make it harder for thieves prior to the attempt.
Current economic conditions across the country are causing sharp rises in criminal activity of all types. George M., a local Construction foreman recently commented, “People will rip out copper wires and pipes as soon as you install them if you don’t have effective security measures in place.” Dan Bowe, Senior Vice President of Operations at Arrow Security stated, “There has been an increase in the theft of metal as the downturned economy drives the value of scrap up, and increases unemployment rates at the same time. Even considering the fact that drug use and escapism is often the motivation behind thefts, they can also, at least partially, be blamed on the economy.”
