March 28, 2012 - PRLog -- According to a recent survey carried out by valuation specialists CAP, the superchargedAbarth 500 ranks in the top three vehicles which have the lowest depreciation in the UK. The Italian brand has previously boasted of the long-term value of their popular supermini cars and this research appears to confirm their claims.

The findings of the CAP survey list the 128mph Abarth 500 in among the top three lowest depreciating cars in the UK. Ahead of the sporty 500 are the sleek Audi Q5 and the popular Skoda Yeticrossover vehicle. The average resale value of the 500 currently stands at 60% of the original list price after 30,000 miles or three years of use indicating exceptional value for money as a new car investment.

Since relaunching in 2008, Abarth, the sporty division of Fiat Group Automobiles, has established itself as a highly desirable, supercharged, sporty brand that enthusiasts want to own and drive. The TrofeoAbarth championship has added to the popularity of the Italian brand.

Irvan Gibson, Head of Abarth UK stated that “From the start we had the plan to build long-term value into the Abarth brand.” He added that: “The Abarth 500 is an attractive and timeless car…no wonder it has done so well in this research.”

Powered by a 1.4-litre 16-valve turbocharged engine, the 500 is capable of a max 135 bhp at 5500 rpm. The supercharged superminiboasts a peak torque of 206 Nm (152 lbft) at 3000 rpm in ‘Sport’ mode. Additionally, and rather surprisingly, the Abarth 500 is built to Euro 5 environmental standards.

The Abarth 500 also offers impressive fuel economyreturning 43.4 mpg on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of only 155 g/km. List prices for the new Abarth 500 start from around £14,500 (OTR). Get in touch with your local Abarth dealer for more details or to book a test drive.
