March 27, 2012 - PRLog -- PHOENIX – Redflex Traffic Systems, a global leader in traffic safety technology, has released a new video on the company’s support for the Stop for Maya Foundation.  The video highlights Redflex’s support of the Foundation’s annual walk and features interviews with a number of the more than one dozen Redflex employees and family members who participated in the 2012 Stop for Maya walk, including President and CEO Karen Finley.  It can be found on Redflex’s official Youtube page at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beDwi9TPUto.

“It was such a natural fit for us to get behind a cause like this.  What our company is all about is trying to change driver behavior to make the roads safer,” said Redflex President and CEO Karen Finlay.  “People really needed to be responsible for their actions and make our roads safer.

The Stop For Maya Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in the memory of Maya Hirsch, a four year old girl who was killed in Chicago in May 2006 by a driver who ignored a stop sign at a busy crosswalk.  The Foundation is committed to advocating for pedestrian and bicyclist safety in and around the city of Chicago and to raising awareness of the need for all drivers to obey basic traffic safety laws.   Dollars raised support Chicago Children’s Memorial Hospital Heartlight Bereavement Program, which provides emotional support to grieving families who have lost a child.

“We really believe in what we do.  And that’s why we’re here today,” said Liz Marcus who is a Redflex Account Representative in the company’s Chicago office.   “It’s a very sad cause, but we hope by coming out we will educate others about what can happen if you drive recklessly.”

As a leader in traffic safety technology, Redflex supports organizations and public education campaigns that work to remind drivers of the importance of responsible driving.
