NYC Bike Expo is the mandatory packet pickup for the 6,000 Gran Fondo New York participants and it is open to the general public and free admission. The expected attendance will top 15,000 cycling enthusiasts over the two days.
There will be 37 vendors that promote and sell their products and services to avid cyclists from all over the world. A cycling expo of this size has never existed before in New York City. But thanks to the success of Gran Fondo New York in bringing a mass participation, competitive cycling event to New York City for the first time, the cycling industry is throwing its support and marketing dollars behind the expo.
New vendors include California-based social fitness tech company Strava, organizers of Colorado’s 7-day professional cycling race USA Pro Challenge, and Oregon-based indoor bicycle trainer engineering company RacerMate.
Representatives from Pinarello, the famed bike frame company from Treviso, Italy are returning to NYC Bike Expo in 2012. New exhibitors for 2012 who are coming from Italy include: Campagnolo bicycle parts from Vicenza; organizers of Gran Fondo Rome, Elite bicycle products from Fontaniva and Italy Bike Hotels management from Rimini.
While there are many international companies exhibiting at New York City Bike Expo, there are also local companies. New York City’s Finest Sports Specialty Store, Paragon, is returning to the expo in 2012. Rumba Time, a watch company that names its watches after NYC streets and offers watches with medical ID and EasyPay, is headquartered in NYC and exhibiting at NYC Bike Expo for the first time.
Last year’s inaugural New York City Bike Expo was held on May 6-7, 2011 at Roseland Ballroom. After a surge of demand for expo booths in September 2011, organizers of Gran Fondo New York scouted for a larger space in midtown Manhattan and secured Penn Pavilion, a 40,000+ square foot venue in the heart of Manhattan. Located at 33rd Street and 7th Avenue, the location is ideal for a high-traffic expo such as the NYC Bike Expo and offers easy access from Penn Station, Grand Central, virtually all NYC subway lines and the Midtown and Lincoln tunnels.

May 20, 2012 marks the second edition of Gran Fondo New York. 6000 cyclists from over 70 countries and 47 US states will take on a challenging 105-mile course from NYC to Bear Mountain and back to compete against each other, the clock and themselves in a personal and physical test of endurance.
