March 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Bluemont, VA – Celebrate Springtime with family and friends amidst rolling hills and friendly animals. The 9th Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Marshmallow Harvest will have 10,000 treat filled eggs specially hidden for four separate aged based hunts daily. Visitors will enjoy the mysterious Marshmallow Harvest which always blooms on or around April 1st and can be eaten straight off the tree or roasted over the bonfire. Farmer Bob Zurschmeide notes, “All the fruit trees are blooming early with this unusually warm spring, but the marshmallows have been unaffected and should be ready right on schedule.”  Visit with the Easter bunny then have lunch at the Farms’ signature Roosteraunt. The Farm Market features delicious local foods and gifts to take home. Due to popular demand, advanced Egg Hunt tickets are recommended and are available online (see details below).

A special highlight is picking up your own family of baby chicks or “peeps” to raise and keep or return to the farm to join the laying hens.  Kate Zurschmeide explains, “Our chickens are free range and eat all the bugs in the gardens. Raising your own peeps inspires kids to wonder about farming and experience the fun without the long term commitment to having a hen house in the back yard.”  Advance Peep orders are required and are $25+tx (see details below).
Included in the general admission price are many farm attractions like the animal barnyard with new baby animals including kids (baby goats) and Elmer the pot-belly pig. Children love the 5 acre play area featuring unique attractions like the giant jumping pillow; pedal carts, rope mazes and more. Live music by Nathaniel Davis accompanies both days’ festivities. Other available attractions include a ride on the cow train and wine-tastings at neighboring Bluemont Vineyard where you can relax with a glass and enjoy the remarkable view.
