March 27, 2012 - PRLog -- -- SARASOTA, Florida -- Carpenters look no more – Blaklader workpants are the durable choice for daily workwear. Blaklader workwear’s lightweight, durable Bantam workpants have become the first choice of professional carpenters who need a durable work garment that keeps them comfortable and productive. Old, worn-out jeans weren’t meant for a home workshop or a jobsite. Blaklader has engineered and re-engineered workpants for the toughest jobs for decades.  Every stitch and fiber on the best-selling workpants provides functionality and durability, much like a hammer, drill or tape measure.  The workpants include exterior utility pockets and Cordura® reinforced pockets and knees. Cordura® is a highly abrasion-resistant synthetic textile made by Invista commonly found on backpack straps.

Carpenters can often spend a lot of time on their knees, bending over to pick up or move items, but many have never had pants with kneepads to protect them from bumps, scrapes and rough surfaces. Blaklader Bantam workpants feature a special pocket for kneepads, which can be inserted quickly and easily. The built-in pads allow for swift transitions between fixing or installing overhead and lower-level cabinets without the hassle of putting on and taking off constricting wrap-around kneepads. Knee injury can stem from abnormal wear and tear and years of misuse, according to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA).  The efficiency of a non-intrusive, built-in kneepad saves time and can prevent knee injuries.

Built-in kneepad pockets also prevent other problems caused by traditional strap-on kneepads.  Straps around the back of the knee can cut off circulation and cause discomfort.  According to OSHA, bending a knee for an extended period of time can reduce blood circulation – even without constricting kneepads.

All too often, durability and functionality features can appear as add-ons or afterthoughts to traditional workpants.  Blaklader’s Bantam pant was built from the ground up as a beacon of long-lasting functionality. For example, kneepads insert from the bottom to prevent debris like wood splinters and screws from falling in to the pocket causing serious injury.  Pockets are sewn to the leg using triple stitching and reinforced with extra-durable Cordura® material to prevent tears. Other features that make Blaklader some of the most advanced workwear on the market include:

Exterior Utility Pockets
Utility pockets allow constant access to tools, screws and nails without using a tool belt.  The pockets also make it easy to access tools while on a ladder or a knee. Blaklader engineers cut the pocket corners at a 45-degree angle to make those last few screws easy to grab. The slanted corners also make the pockets easy to tuck in when not in use.  Stitching on the bottom seam of the pocket is raised to make these pockets extra durable preventing tear-outs at pressure points.

Extra-Long Tool Pocket
Side pockets on traditional workpants are attached at the bottom allowing tools to jab and cut the back of the leg when kneeling. The extended side pocket on Blaklader workpants fits tools as large as a hammer and is disconnected on the bottom, allowing it to swing when kneeling. The technology removes pressure from the leg and allows easy access to tools in the pocket. The disconnected pocket also keeps tools from sliding out unnoticed when sitting or kneeling.

Bellowed Pockets
Pockets on traditional workwear are stitched directly on the bottom and are strained when tools or supplies are added. All pockets on Blaklader workpants utilize raised stitching to strengthen the pocket so tradesmen can easily access tools.  The bellow also prevents tools from puncturing the pocket.

Triple-Stitched Seams
Seams throughout the pants are triple-stitched to prevent tear outs.  While triple stitching is not uncommon, Blaklader’s limited lifetime warranty on seams sets the workwear brand apart.

Whether you’re a finish carpenter or cabinetmaker, Blaklader workpants offer simple form and function. Blaklader workwear is available across the U.S. at leading hardware and building products retailers. For a complete list, visit www.blakladerusa.com.
