This will take the size of the workforce to almost 4,500 - a trebling of the number that worked there three years ago. The announcement has been praised by government, unions and the CBI, as a great example of Britain's manufacturing revival.

The company say increases in the plant's workforce have come about as a result of high demand for the Range Rover Evoque and the Freelander 2 models by UK motorists and car insurance policy holders.

"These 1,000 new jobs are further evidence of JLR's clear ambition for continued growth. We are moving Halewood to three shifts and 24-hour operation to meet increased global demand," said Jaguar Land Rover's human resources director, Des Thurlby in a press release.

"JLR's supply chain is also set to benefit, with thousands more jobs expected to be created," he added.

The new jobs will include posts for engineers, supervisors and production operators. The creation of the new jobs has been welcomed by the Unite union.

"The creation of new jobs at Halewood is more good news for Britain's car industry and the local economy," said Unite's national officer, Roger Maddison in a statement.

"Again, Britain's car industry is bucking the trend of manufacturing decline. It is proof that with the right investment and support, UK manufacturing can be a success story."

The CBI also added new jobs will further strengthen Britain's position in the global economy.

"This is further evidence of re-balancing across the economy, with the latest UK trade figures showing record levels of exports going to countries outside the EU, such as the US and China," said the CBI's Neil Bentley in a press release.

The government's business secretary Vince Cable has told the BBC the announcement was "further evidence of the strength of the UK automotive sector".  Automotive market news can be accessed here http://cheapcarinsurancequotes.eazs.com/prld-autoinsurance
