Featuring four panelists sharing their expertise in a roundtable discussion led by Dr. Scott, “Emergency Management” looks at the preparation, response and recovery from catastrophic situations whether natural disasters, accidents, acts of human aggression, or other.
“Participating in this discussion was a unique experience and I encourage viewers to tune in to learn some of the steps to consider in safeguarding family, home and businesses in times of emergency,” said Barber.
A pioneer in risk management consulting, in 1980 Mr. Barber co-founded RMI Consulting after years at Warner Communications Inc and Alexander & Alexander. RMI has been successful, earning recognition for its commitment to reducing the risks of conducting business for clients nationwide through management strategies and cost-effective, comprehensive coverage to minimize exposure.
“Jim was not only informative, but a terrific presence on the program,” said Adelphi University President Robert A. Scott. “Our series, Exploring Critical Issues, is in its ninth season — its success in no small part the result of the participation of guests like Jim.”
The hour-long “Emergency Management” broadcast will air over two weeks, beginning April 14 as follows: Saturdays, April 14 and April 21 at 10:30 p.m.; Sundays, April 15 and April 22 at 7:00 a.m.; Mondays, April 16 and April 23 at 10:30 p.m.; and Fridays, April 20

Adelphi University, seeing the need for professionals in business, insurance, health care, travel and tourism, education and public service to be trained in responding effectively to emergency situations, is one of the few institutions of higher learning to offer degrees in Emergency Management including a Graduate Emergency Management Certificate degree program, a national online degree in Emergency Services Administration and a M.S. degree in Emergency Management.
RMI Consulting’s James Barber (r) joins Adelphi University President Dr. Robert A. Scott for the in-studio taping of Exploring Critical Issues telecast “Emergency Management” airing this April.
Seen by over seven million households, Exploring Critical Issues has earned three Telly Awards, the cable equivalent of the Emmy.
