Business Litigator Eric J. Bakewell Joins Weingarten Brown LLP

March 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Weingarten Brown LLP announced today that business litigator Eric J. Bakewell has joined the Los Angeles-based business and entertainment litigation boutique law firm as an associate.  Bakewell’s experience includes litigating financial fraud, intellectual property, class action, securities, social media, contract and other complex corporate actions.

Prior to joining Weingarten Brown, Bakewell represented clients in the financial, technology, communications, electronic commerce, and insurance industries as an associate in the Los Angeles office of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP.  He also counseled clients in securities, corporate, international and environmental litigation while an associate in the Washington, DC office of Arnold & Porter LLP and clerked for Judge Mary A. McLaughlin of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  Bakewell worked as a law clerk in the Appellate Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC and as a summer associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.  He is admitted to the bar in California, New York and the District of Columbia.

Bakewell graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2002.  At Georgetown, he made the Dean’s List each year, served as both a legal writing and senior writing fellow, authored an article for American Criminal Law Review, and handled criminal and immigration appeals through the school’s Appellate Litigation Clinic.  He graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1998 with a bachelor of arts in political science and philosophy.
