Terry Murray Discusses Leading For Creativity Advantage in Business On The Frankie Boyer Show

In today's economy, creative thinking is a competitive imperative for businesses. Creativity creates value at every touch point in an organization. Terry Murray shares his insights on how leadership can cultivate creativity with Frankie Boyer.

March 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Performance Transformation, LLC™ (Venice, FL) announced the posting of a replay podcast of founder and Managing Partner Terry Murray's interview with nationally syndicated radio talk show host Frankie Boyer.  This is Mr. Murray's second appearance on The Frankie Boyer Show, which is heard coast-to-coast and in London and Singapore on more than thirty terrestrial radio stations.

The interview focused on how human creativity is a key driver in value creation in today's global economy and how organizations can unleash the potential of human creativity in the workplace.

"Even if you're not in a high tech environment, chances are the way you're doing business has changed dramatically over the past decade," commented Terry.  "Creativity needs to be stewarded out of R&D and marketing and into every facet of the culture. Cultivating creative approaches at every customer touch point is critical to differentiating your organization in what will continue to be a very noisy marketplace."

In the interview, Frankie asked Terry why so few companies are creative in their approach to business and why so many people are not empowered to use their creative abilities?

"The prevalent leadership paradigm was optimized for the Industrial Age to facilitate the command and control of large numbers of factory laborers," replied Terry.  "Hands on an assembly line were simply a mechanical extension of the manufacturing process.  There was no room or need for creative thought.  In today's economy, the efficient commercialization of intellectual property is the primary driver of value creation.  The source of value today lies in human creativity.  Leading human beings is very different than managing mechanical processes."

Mr. Murray goes on to add, "We're witnessing the natural fallout from applying an antiquated, transactional leadership philosophy to the rapidly emerging demands and complexities of today's knowledge economy...employee disengagement.  Research from several sources indicates upwards of 70% of employees have little or no passion for their work or their employer.  Engagement is a pre-requisit for creative thinking to germinate."

The interview explores the approach Mr. Murray shares in his book, "The Transformational Entrepreneur ~ Engaging The Mind, Heart & Spirit For Breakthrough Business Success", for leading and inspiring people to perform at their optimal level of creative productivity.

Ms. Boyer (http://www.frankieboyer.com) goes on to comment, "I'm just crazy about your book!  There's nothing else out there like it."

In the book, Terry reveals how highly creative, innovative companies optimize and align their leadership, strategy, and organizational culture, taking the human element into consideration at every stage.

"People want to win.  The want to be a part of something purposeful, visionary, and larger than themselves." adds Terry. "They are also very astute and intuitive when it comes to incongruent leadership, strategic priorities that shift with the wind and organizational culture that does not align with their personal values.  The lessons from Applied Behavioral Economics clearly demonstrates how people feel is as important, if not more important, than what they think.  This is especially true when it comes to creative input."

In the interview, Frankie and Terry go on to discuss how Equine Facilitated Coaching helps leaders develop the competencies necessary for optimizing creative thinking.

"Horses are not impressed with titles.  They require presence, clarity of communication, and congruency in order to join-up with people," said Terry.  "As prey animals, horses are highly sensitive to their environment and mirror our human emotions with their behavioral response.  How we connect, engage, and motivate a horse, without the use of coercive or dominating behavior, reflects how we do the exact same things with people.  Enabling leaders to see how they interact with the horses to co-create authentic relationship enables them to see their own communicative and leadership styles in an entirely new light."

Ms. Boyer commented, "I did an equine learning exercise a few years ago in Arizona and was blown away.  It was a fascinating learning experience for me!”
