PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 27, 2012 - The BRDs are emerging as a new class of important drug targets, alongside HATs and HDACs, for cancer and inflammatory diseases such as cardiovascular disease and rheumatoid arthritis. The human genome contains at least 42 BRD-containing proteins with at least 56 unique BRDs. BRDs have been identified in HATs, methyltransferases (e.g. MLL), chromatin-remodeling complexes, and transcriptional coactivators.
