TUSCALOOSA, AL – March 26, 2012 – Rachel’z, Tuscaloosa, will host a premiere viewing event for NBC’s reality series “Escape Routes” on Saturday, March 31. The event is to support Tuscaloosa native, Iris Hill, who will be competing on the show, in a string of real world challenges, while on a cross-country road trip with her best friend, Terrence Terrell.
Family, friends, and supporters of Hill’s team (the grey team) are expected to attend and are asked to wear grey. The media are also invited to attend. Admission is free, with the only cost being the public’s choice of food or drink from the restaurant’s menu.
The one-hour episode of “Escape Routes” will premiere on NBC at 7pm CT/8pm ET, and will be shown on the restaurant’s TVs. The viewing event will also be streamed live on Ustream for grey team supporters, nationwide.
Hill, who will be featured in all six episodes, alongside Terrell, is competing against five other teams to win $100,000 and two new 2013 Ford Escapes. A graduate of Hillcrest High School, Tuscaloosa, and Auburn University alum, with a Master’s degree in Conservation Biology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Pre-veterinary Zoology, Hill plans to use some of her winnings to help West Alabama tornado recovery efforts, if the grey team wins.
“Escape Routes,” a new interactive prime-time reality TV show, will feature a cast of six teams participating in social media and excursion competitions. Each week, the teams will arrive in a new city where they compete in spontaneous adventures and interactive challenges using their Ford Escapes. Each stop will engage online followers, who will have the ability to interact with the cast through twitter and www.escaperoutes.com.
