March 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Every week, the supermarket weight loss provocateur, Woman’s World magazine publishes articles on weight loss theories, concepts and diets galore. Now there is a website that is willing to analyze and critique these articles and discern what is tried and true and acceptable and what is not.

Weight Loss has become an industry and dieting is an American pastime.  Weight loss as an industry  is experiencing massive growth while millions of women (and men) struggle with belly fat and bulging thighs.  Are these problems getting better or getting worse? Are we making any progress or regressing?

"It has been said that all diets work and all diets fail depending on how you follow them," said Vaughn Gray, health coach and fitness expert. "It's not quite as simple as calories in and calories out. There is a healthy way to lose weight and certainly many fad diets are very unhealthy," he warned.

Obesity is on the rise and there are endless ways addressing how to deal with it. Thousands of new books each year, tens of thousands of websites deal with the issue and hundreds of dietary supplements seem to work for some but not all.

On the one hand, it seems like a case of information overload, yet at the same time, many more millions are falling prey to the staggering decline in health and wellness due to the issues of obesity.

The rise in all cause mortality seems linked to obesity and certainly heart disease the leading cause of American deaths is figured at over 39.5% due to inactivity and another 33.9% due to obesity, so says the Center for Disease Control.  That’s 73.8% of all American deaths attributed to a lack of fitness and certainly something must be in the food supply!

Who is to blame for this obesity crisis? Many are convinced it’s not entirely the fault of the individual. Nutrition suffers with the advance of modernized society making it difficult for the average worker to find good healthy food choices. It’s just way too easy to fill up on convenient, non-nutritious junk food that is readily available on every corner of every city and town in America.

Woman’s World Magazine has a steady readership in the millions and the products and diets recommended in their pages offer some hope to woman who needs guidance and help. However, the images of cheesecake next to the latest diet craze with the boast of “having your cheesecake and eating it too” while dieting may be just slick copy writing and hyperbole rather than sound nutritional advice.

Some diets do offer binge days where it doesn’t matter what you eat. So the image of cheesecake within a dieting article may be somehow within the bounds of the diet yet, the fine print reveals is one day a week, while the other six days it’s lean protein, slow burning carbohydrates, no rice, no wheat, no sugar and no cheesecake.

Now this new website promises to cut through the hyperbole and teach readers to discern what’s true and what’s not.
