African Head of Government receives Prestigious Award in London

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 25, 2012 - LONDON, UK: The Head of Osun State, Governor Rauf Aregbesola, was honoured for his outstanding contribution in education during his brief tenure in office. Governor Aregbesola’s administration has managed to put forward £120 million to build 170 schools and employed 20,000 young people in the first 100 days. The prestigious accolade was given at the exclusive, 5-star Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf, in  London.  

Governor Aregbesola, was invited to London by Professor Patrick McGhee, who is currently the leader Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of East London. He was invited to give a lecture on "The current Technological and Educational challenges and opportunities" explaining the benefits of technology enabled learning in Osun State and the £6million spent on feeding every single primary school pupil in the African State.

A spokesperson for the ExcellenceinEducation.org.uk (EIE) programme who partners with various governments and supports the academic achievement of students, including children from disadvantaged background, commended such collaborative initiatives between universities and Heads of government. EIE (www.ExcellenceinEducation.org.uk) has the world record for mentoring and producing prodigies in Mathematics, ICT, and other academic subjects.
