March 23, 2012 - PRLog -- You want to volunteer in the Caring World: associations and NGOs in your country or abroad, but you’re not sure how to do it.

Ask yourself these first few question:
What causes that affect you most?
Who do you want to help more specifically?
What are your skills, your availability, and your true motives?
What kind of work corresponds most to your personality?
Will you volunteer in your country or abroad?
This choice is made, remains to contact an organization in your country or abroad to request some information regarding their programs.

Be aware that virtually all knowledge is needed in Humanarian Action. Medical staff, logisticians, managers, teachers, computer scientists, farmers, technical managers, fundraisers and people in civil engineering is needed.

Why pay to volunteer?

Many people think it is ridiculous to pay to work for free.
I don’t want you to react like a Canadian woman who went to volunteer in Haiti after the earthquake.

She was well aware of the cost of her stay for three weeks ($1200.00). She was alone in an air conditioned room in a house in a residential area that the earthquake had not devastated. She only gave $100.00 by asking us what we do with the money from the International community.

This was not an excuse. But, an audacity!
She reported when she returned to Canada that she was scammed!

God’s Children Ministries like many other organizations, does not receive money either from the Church and any foreign Government.

Actually, you do not pay for volunteer work in itself, but for everything that revolves around this work.

Some reasons why it is necessary to help your pocket to perform volunteer work:
The charities we support do not want volunteers who weigh their financial
Feed you, house you, train you - all this can be expensive and someone has to pay
If local authorities had money, they hire someone from the country
To run an organization also costs money (rent, wages, telephone, cars, employees etc...)

Also keep in mind that:
With your help, we can offer help steady and sustainable
You contribute to income families and small business local
You benefit from using an on-site coordinator, who is here to help
You have accommodation arranged in advance, and meals included an assignment to a specific mission.

Waner Jerome, Program Director of God’s Children Ministries in Haiti said: Volunteering allow us to know ourselves and to discover more than ever before.
Indeed, our relationship will improve alongside other people. There will be openness, respect and consideration for others.
Volunteering makes us better human beings, sensitive and warm. We will discover the beautiful and bad in us.
