Attorney Jeffery Leving practices matrimonial law and is a tireless advocate for fathers and children who received international praise for his instrumental work in helping reunite Elián González with his father in Cuba. Leving, to increase the on-going dialogue between sister cities Chicago and Mexico City, recently contributed to a think-tank with Justice José Fernando Franco González Salas of the Mexican Supreme Court. Leving had lunch with Justice José Fernando Franco González Salas at the Chicago Bar Association.
First published in 1997, Fathers’ Rights has received critical praise as more than a legal primer, but as required reading for any father going through a divorce looking for tools and advice on how to get back into their children’s lives.
Leving then followed up with 2007’s Divorce Wars, giving real-life examples and essential advice on everything from picking the right lawyer to dealing with an ex-spouse to ensure parents and children survive even he most painful and difficult divorce.
This April brings the release of his newest book How to Be a Good Divorced Dad, which Cardinal Francis George called “…a pain-filled book that offers good advice about how to preserve a family born of a marriage that has failed;” and President Obama congratulated by saying “Thank you for your commitment to ensuring that fathers play a role in their children’s lives. This is a cause both you and I feel strongly about and I appreciate your leadership.”
Copies of Fathers’ Rights and Divorce Wars will be available for sale and pre-orders will be taken for How to Be a Good Divorced Dad.
