The Mayans and the Truth About Dec. 21, 2012

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 23, 2012 - By now, everyone has heard that according to New Age practitioners, authors and self-proclaimed experts, that the end of the Mayan calendar on Dec. 21, 2012 indicates the end of the world — and unfortunately, there are a growing number of people who are actually believing these claims, with some preparing for the worst.

In order to discover the truth about the Mayan calendar and what, if anything it prophecies, my wife, Laura, and I went on a two week expedition into the land of The Maya in present day Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

Over the two weeks of our expedition in the land of the Maya, we spoke with Mayan government officials, Mayan scholars and, yes, even the Maya themselves.

I am happy to report that rumours of their demise years ago is false. The Mayans are alive and well. In fact, there are an estimated 2.5 million Mayans living in the land of the Maya today.

It has been discovered through DNA testing that the Maya originated from Mongolia and crossed the Bering Strait ice bridge and continued south to where they settled in Central America.

There are over 100 Mayan cities that have been found in the land of the Maya, but to date, only 10 per cent are presently accessible to the public.

The Mayans are considered to be the leaders and pioneers of great sciences like astronomy and mathematics. One of their great achievements was the understanding of our solar system.

All their architecture is based on astronomic observations and five centuries before Galileo Galilei, they knew that the centre of our solar system was the Sun and not the Earth.

When asked about the end of the Mayan calendar on Dec. 21, 2012 and the New Age prophecies of the end of the world, they simply laugh, for as they told us, Dec. 21, 2012 is the end of the current round calendar and that is all.

The Mayans never predicted that it would also indicate the end of the world and there is no Mayan document or archaeological artifact that makes such a claim or reference.

So, there you have it from the Mayans themselves — the World will NOT end on Dec. 21, 2012.
