Follow on Google News | Unsafe Scuba Certification's in the Florida KeysDive Shop's in the Florida Keys are Teaching , unsafe Open Water Scuba Courses This is in the area of Big Pine Key Florida, with some of the new managers of some old dive shops
By: ProDive The Scuba Community has about 20 Skills in a pool and in open water and a couple of workmanship skills you must Master And be Comfortable with before you can be issued a Certification Card . equipment assembly , Safety checks , entry's , buoyancy check , regulator exchange , proper descent's ,Proper ascents , Regulator recovery & Clearing , Air Depletion exercise , Free flow regulators , hovers/fin pivots , remove equipment under water and on the Surface of the water , emergency ascents , buddy breathing while swimming and so on , :( Here they are , remove and replace weight system under water , remove weight system on the surface , under water swim without a mask . In the keys they just would not say anything about the one's they decided not to teach because of the time , after all they only have from 9:30 in the morning until 12:00 noon to do all 20 skills Padi Said it Required 31 hours for a course to include ( 5 Confined Water Dives and 4 Open Water Dives) Will with PADI Shops in the Florida Keys they take you out for the Open Water Dives for 2 days 2 tanks each day and say that's 1 hour for each tank (more like 20 min) that's 4 hours total on Open Water Dives. If you have done e-learning online you have about 10 hr , (but if you do it in the shop you have maybe 7) 10 + 4 = 14 hrs will they only take you to the Pool For 2 1/2 hours for Confined water dives 14 + 2 1/2 = 16 1/2 leaves what 14 1/2 hours PADI said you should do a Briefing for each of the 5 confined Dives and each should take 3 to 5 min so say 5 min times 5 equals 25 Min's out of the 2 1/2 hours at the Pool leave 2:05 min PADI also requires us to demonstrate each Skill and we should take twice to 3 times the time it would take our students to do the skill , so 6 min a skill , that's about 4 min for demonstration and 2 min for the student but what if you have to repeat a skill that means the instructor has to re demonstrate and you have to redo the skill , where does the time come from they still have to have you done by noon or you can't go on the boat for the afternoon open Water Dive here is another scenario what if there is 2 students that's 1 min per skill per student and if there was 3 students 3/5th of a min (not counting redoes) Scuba Diving is a great way to see the other part of the world that others just dream about it does have risk's to it , but the risks are lowered when you have had a standard of training by a Dive Shop that will not sale their integrity for a dollar , so my question is why would anyone want to take someones money and send them out to harm themselves for a dollar or send them out so another Dive Shop thanks they Have a Certified Diver wanting to dive and in reality they have someone playing with their life who should not be a certified for Scuba Diving We at Southernmost Diving we do a 2 day course like the others but the time is a little different then theirs and the guilty and level of training is higher 1. They must do e-learning about 10 hrs 2. Testing on site about 2 hrs 3. Pool Work doing skills about 8 hrs or longer if needed 4. Pool getting relaxed and comfortable about 2 hrs 5. Two days of Diving in Open Water with one day in what we call the lagoon which has lower visibility then the reef , but thank about it where does most divers that come to the keys dive Lakes , Rivers and queries so why not train for low visibility so when you go home and go diving you have already been trained some for it , this is about 4 hrs one day and we want you to go out on the reef for the 2nd day and that's about 6 hrs for a total of 32 hrs we suggest you do a course and make sure they give you what is stated above or if a accident does happen you and your family will be out in the cold ! because in order to get your card you stated you had the standards of training listed above .
