An Estimated 80 Biliion Pictures Were Taken in 2011*

A new business model, the photo organizer, is emerging and evolving to help consumers with their increasingly overwhelming photo and video collections.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 22, 2012 - With the increased popularity of digital photography and improved quality of images, consumers have become overwhelmed with their ever-increasing digital photos.  Those digital images are trapped on hard drives, cameras, phones, and memory cards.  In addition, hundreds of thousands of printed photos, slides, and home movies are not being enjoyed because of disorganized or obsolete storage systems.

According to a January 2009 Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) study, "The Digital Imaging: A Focus on Sharing," 77% of American households own a digital camera and that does not include cell phones.  The study also reports that consumers took an average of 72 digital photos at the last event they attended.

ScrapMyPix, owned by Rachel Jenkins, has evolved to address this growing need. Rachel helps people and businesses organize, preserve, and display their printed and digital photos.  Services provided include; traditional printed photo organization, scanning services, digital photo organization, photography, and design and creation of digital photo books as well as traditional albums.  ScrapMyPix also provides individual or group instruction on photo organization of both printed and digital media.

ScrapMyPix will assist people who need help with a lifetime of photos or a specific event.  Whether you are downsizing or have inherited boxes of photos, Rachel will help you choose which photos to keep and which to eliminate as well as how to organize and categorize your photos. Next steps may include a photo-safe album or archival quality photo boxes so your photos can be enjoyed by future generations.

Rachel is a member of the Association of Personal Photo Organizers (APPO).  This organization was founded by Cathi Nelson two years ago and is a network of independent business owners who offer personalized, one-on-one photo management services to consumers and businesses.    Nelson's membership in APPO went from several members to over 500 in just a year and she fully expects this new service industry to continue to grow.  A recent partnership between APPO and the Independent Photo Imagers (IPI) Association also substantiates this growing industry niche.
