South Korea Pushes to Include the Gaeseong Industrial Zone in Addition to The Speed Traders Workshop

March 22, 2012 - PRLog -- South Korea has been persistent in including the Gaeseong industrial zone in North Korea in its free-trade deals with Europe and the US.  It is assumed that this would deepen cross-border ties after the North’s leadership transition.

It has been inferred that this push may aid any efforts by North Korea to open up if the South wins inclusion for Gaeseong. Currently, Gaeseong is the only way South Korea has access into the North, being that it is of mutual interest between the divided regions.
