The Anderson Cooper Daytime Talk Show Features Segment on Eosinophilic Disorders

March 21, 2012 - PRLog -- Life has been crazy over the last few weeks, since Charleston, SC resident Cara Koscinski was contacted by the Anderson Cooper Daytime Talk Show to share her son Joshua’s story about living with an eosinophilic disorder.  Within hours of hearing from the producers, a TV crew was sent to her home, and the next day she and her family where on a flight to record live with Anderson in his studio in New York City.

In a segment titled “The Boy Who Can Not Eat’, which is set to air on Friday, March 23, 2012 across the nation on major networks, The Koscinski family discusses the rare disease their son Joshua lives with, Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE).  Currently the only food that Joshua’s body does not react to is applesauce.

Mrs. Koscinski had contacted the Anderson Cooper Daytime Talk Show, with an idea for a story and shared a video she produced that explaining what Joshua went through and about his illness.  A huge fan of Anderson, Cara was shocked when she got the call that they were interested in having her family as guests on the program “I was extremely excited to be given the opportunity to share our son’s story and create awareness of these diseases on a national platform! ” said Ms. Koscinski.

Eosinophil Associated Disorders, including Eosinophilic Esophagitis, are rapidly emerging as a healthcare problem worldwide.  Yet many patients suffering from these disorders go undiagnosed for years due to the lack of information or awareness of these disorders.

•   These disorders are characterized by having above normal amounts of  
    eosinophils, a type of white blood cell, in one or more specific places in the
    digestive system, tissues and/or organs, which causes inflammation and
    damage.  
•   Diagnosis can only be made through tissue biopsies.  
•   These diseases are chronic and often debilitating.  
•   Delays in diagnosis are common and often patients are misdiagnosed.  
•   There is NO FDA approved treatment for most eosinophil associated disorders
    and  there is No Cure!
