North Carolina author Keith M. Donaldson penned his book as a piece of fiction, but discloses that “many events and elements I’ve portrayed in my book have come true and I believe others will continue to become reality.” Rude Awakenings was due to come out this fall, the publisher said, but will now be released May 19, 2012. The book is available immediately for prerelease reviews.
“In this time of such turmoil in American politics, it takes a lot of ingenuity, analysis, and courage to write a story with such disconcerting projections,”
Donaldson self-published his book in 2009 and won the finalist award in mystery at the 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. He turned to BQB Publishing in 2011 to have it professionally restructured, edited, and made available for national distribution. Reviews of the first version were favorable, and one reader tagged the manuscript as “scarily relevant.” Donaldson says he expects this second edition to be even more potent and applicable for the 2012 election year.
About Rude Awakenings
In a nation fleeced by selfish politicians and bereft of pride and purpose, American voters turned to a new third-party candidate, Mike Macdonald, for president. The Centrists won enough seats in the Senate and House to create a three-party system, and they and President Macdonald were focused on financial and social renewal. However, the nuclear bombing of an American city and a diabolical foreign plot to strip the US dollar to third-world status forces Macdonald to put on his poker face and set up an international bluff that has to work. Rude Awakenings invokes courage, a sense of romance, and fervor for outwitting the bad guys.
