March 21, 2012 - PRLog -- The Cyber Defence and Network Security Africa Summit will bring together top international and local key industry experts at the globally renowned Cyber Defence event by DefenceIQ, IQPC (http://www.cdans.org). The summit will take place at the Crowne Plaza- Rosebank in Johannesburg from 17 - 18 July 2012, and will feature presentations relating to trustworthy computing, global security threat landscape trends, Cloud computing and the need to re-assess the standard approaches to IT security.

The theme for the conference is "Defending Critical Information infrastructure."

Many trusted security technologies have failed, and coupled with this, cyber defence is still immature, skills are lacking to address cyber warfare, the world has become more connected and hackers are getting smarter.

Top priority goal of CIO’s and CISO’s is increasing security and maintaining the safety of computing and communications for critical infrastructure systems in today’s high threat environment.

Information Security themes that will be explored include the policy and legislative landscape in South Africa, Cyber Warfare, Cloud Security, benchmarking to international standards, information security to developing world, unknown vulnerabilities and their mitigation, mobile security, non-technical aspects of information security; the insider threat as well as issues around digital identity, anti-virus failures and mobile application vulnerabilities.

More cyber attacks are definitely possible

NASA said hackers stole employee credentials and gained access to mission-critical projects last year in 13 major network breaches that could compromise U.S. national security.
National Aeronautics and Space Administration Inspector General Paul Martin testified before Congress last week on the breaches, which appear to be among the more significant in a string of security problems for federal agencies.
The space agency discovered in November that hackers working through an Internet Protocol address in China broke into the -network of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Martin said in testimony released on Wednesday. One of NASA's key labs, JPL manages 23 spacecraft conducting active space missions, including missions to Jupiter, Mars and Saturn, Reuters reports.

This event will discuss Stuxnet: the first cyber warfare weapon in history and its worldwide implications. The event will discuss in detail about the Stuxnet malware and the history of its detection and its sophisticated capabilities.

This event will not only educate you but give you an opportunity to meet various solution providers who can help you source the right solutions at the right time – every time.
