Follow on Google News | DUMBO Startup Lab: A hub for Brooklyn community startups, classes and events is expandingThe DUMBO Startup Lab, located in the heart of Brooklyn's buzzing startup neighborhood, is moving into a 2,300 sq. ft. loft, increasing membership to a community hub for workspace, classes and events.
Freddie Pikovsky, Chief Organizer of the DUMBO Startup Lab and co-founder/CEO of travel magazine, Off Track Planet, says he was inspired to launch the Lab from his own workspace in Brooklyn last fall after taking part of the Startup Chile program, where he realized the value for entrepreneurs to be part of a community which helped support and accelerate success. With the growth of the DUMBO Startup lab, Freddie says he plans to "create a synergetic and educational atmosphere by bringing in complimentary talent, projects, hosting classes and events that will help build Brooklyn's identity within the innovation ecosystem". Freddie is currently enlisting NYC-based VC's, entrepreneurs and mentors to support the labs upcoming events and panels including Brooklyn Bridge Ventures Charlie O'Donnell, Techstars mentor/NXTP Labs founder James Haft, Co-founder/CEO of InBedMe, Diego Saez-Gil, amongst others. Alexandria Sica, Executive Director of the DUMBO BID, says, "We're thrilled to welcome more space for start-ups to the neighborhood via the Startup Lab. DUMBO itself is a lab for innovators and creators - with more than one hundred creative and tech firms. The Startup Lab can is going to create more spaces for the kind of collaboration and sharing that our entrepreneurs need and the space for even more companies to take root here."
