Ghost Kollective Stems to be Remixed by ccMixter.org

March 20, 2012 - PRLog -- ArtisTech Media is pleased to announce Ghost Kollective has released the stems from its conceptual EP Part Way There – 61 Moons at ccMixter.org for a special remix project. Born out of years of ccMixter collaboration, Ghost K includes long-time community favorites cdk, _ghost and tacet.  Formed across time zones and continents, the stems from Ghost K’s new EP "Part Way There – 61 Moons" have now been officially released under Creative Commons license at ccMixter.org.

“The Mixter has been part of my life since I first joined in 2005,” remarked cdk.  “If you listen to my oldest track on ccmixter, and then my newest, you can see how far musically and technically I've grown through help and constructive criticism of the Mixter community. That's one of the draws to the site, it truly is a community anyone can be a part of, whether you are new to music production, or have been around for a long time, there will be something there for you.”

Ghost K’s "61 Moons" project throws back to beloved conceptual albums. With a sci-fi theme connecting and running throughout the songs, "Part Way There – 61 Moons" appeals to the star-struck inner child.

“The artists cdk, _ghost and tacet have always been some of my favorites at ccMixter,” remarked Emily Richards, CEO of ArtisTech Media. “Their combination as Ghost K is truly magical and the 61 Moons EP is a spatially transformative listen from beginning to end.”

"The 61 moons project has been a labour of love for us, it's been quite a journey, “ commented tacet. “It's pretty amazing to think we can now open up the project and share it's very essence with fellow musicians, allowing it to take on a life all of it's own.  All thanks to ccMixter and its awesome mixter-members!"

Ghost K and ArtisTech Media will curate and release albums from the "61 Moons" project and all remixes submitted at ccMixter.org will be featured on ghostkollective.com and tunetrack.net.

“We (Ghost K) have such different musical influences, but that creates this interesting synergy,” stated _ghost. “The same rule applies to ccMixter – it’s a melting-pot for music ideas.”

ccMixter.org, the most prominent experiment in free music culture, began in 2004 with a series of remix contests hosted by Creative Commons in conjunction with Wired Magazine featuring The Beastie Boys, David Byrne and other innovative musicians.  Lawrence Lessig, founding board member of Creative Commons, says of ccMixter: “The first important thing about Creative Commons is that it’s artist based.  It’s artists who choose what freedoms they’re going to give people when it comes to access to their work.”
