By signing up to the Responsibility Deal iGlobalWellness which is chaired by former Olympian David Moorcroft has agreed to keep five specific pledges from promoting walking or cycling to removing barriers to physical activity during the working day.
In all, iGlobalWellness has signed five pledges: physical activity community pledge, physical activity guideline pledge, active travel pledge, physical activity in the workplace and the physical activity inclusion pledge.
The Responsibility Deal ties into existing iGlobalWellness services which promote physical activity through an advanced activity monitoring system.
iGlobalWellness is already working with Panasonic, Deloitte, Sheffield University and GlaxoSmithKline among others to deliver health and wellbeing programmes to staff. There are more than 370 partners involved in the DH Responsibility Deal.
Health secretary Andrew Lansley said: “We need to take public health seriously. Businesses are in a great position to make a positive difference to people’s health and the Responsibility Deal seeks to harness this potential. I am very pleased with the positive response and commitment already shown to the programme by iGlobalWellness and our other partners.”
