K.D. Smith L.Ac. Joins Costa Acupuncture

March 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Costa Acupuncture ads a new licensed acupuncturist K.D. Smith, L.Ac. to their team.  She is the newest member of their team of licensed acupuncturists dedicated to providing affordable acupuncture in Los Angeles.  K.D. will be avaialable for treatments every Monday from 10:00am- 2:00pm.

K.D. Smith is a licensed Acupuncturist in the state of California, and is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).  She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California.  Since becoming a licensed acupuncturist, K.D. has treated numerous ailments, with an emphasis on physical and emotional trauma.

Her love of community acupuncture was inspired during her time working for Cri-Help, Inc., where she conducted group acupuncture sessions for patients coping with post-acute withdrawal symptoms caused by drugs and alcohol.  K.D. is very passionate about and committed to promoting health and healing through community acupuncture. IN 2009, she worked  with a partner to open a community acupuncture clinic in East Los Angeles.  

In 2010, K.D. volunteered for the Pan African Acupuncture Project teaching acupuncture techniques and protocols to local doctors and nurses in Uganda.  In addition, she supervised acupuncture treatments for patients living with HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB and other conditions.  Shortly thereafter, K.D. joined the efforts of the American Refugee Committee as part of a public health team working on an HIV/AIDS project aimed to decrease the incidence of HIV in the war torn region.

With her return back to Los Angeles and community acupuncture she is able to continue the realization of her goal to make acupuncture affordable and available to the many rather than the few.  K.D. is dedicated to working with communities to utilize her skills to help improve the quality of life for people in need.
