PRLog - Mar. 19, 2012 - The first of four illustrated children’s books about a penguin named Pendleton, along with his polar bear friend Shaman and Ying-Ying, a flying frog, was just published by author Mike Proko.  Pendleton the Penguin & His Magical Friends is a terse yet wonderfully illustrated classic bedtime story that can be read to young children allowing them to enjoy the happy creatures which inhabit the Antarctic.  With “chilling” colorful illustrations, the story begins with a message, “When the sun rises on a new day, all things are possible,” and ends with “Tomorrow’s going to be a GREAT day.”

“All children should see the miracles that are all around them on a daily basis,” said author Mike Proko during a recent interview. “When we were younger, we didn’t know how things worked; we looked at everything as if we were looking at it for the first time. It was magical. That would be the ‘take-away’—to never lose that MAGIC, to believe that all things are possible and to celebrate your uniqueness,” he concluded.

Pendleton The Penguin and His Magical Friends is an ongoing series of children's books that focus on the values of being assertive while being polite, respectful and seeing the magic in all that is around us on a daily basis. Time and time again, Pendleton also shows us that our dreams can only be limited by the breadth of our imagination.

About the Author:  Born and raised just outside Chicago, Mike Proko grew up in an atmosphere that would make any seasoned writer jealous. He would find out at a very young age that the people that you were supposed to look up to were the ones that you should look out for and that sometimes the bad guys were the good guys.  After suffering some health issues, Mike began a career as an author. He began a series of short stories which became 'A Box of Shorts'.  A few of the stories were so dark and somber that a fellow writer wondered if Mike should turn his pen towards a lighter fare.  That suggestion gave birth to Pendleton.
