Voxxi Launches New Health Section

March 19, 2012 - PRLog -- MIAMI (March 19, 2012) – VOXXI, the premier site for the acculturated Latino providing relevant news, insightful analysis and thought-provoking blogs, continues its growth with the addition of a new health editor, Sandra Silva, and the launch of the health section, the company announced today.

VOXXI’s health section will cover medicine, fitness and nutrition, relationships, natural and alternative therapies, mental health, the environment, and much more.  The section will feature expert contributors who will provide their unique perspective and depth of experience, with a major focus on prevention tips and experiential analysis, as well.

Among the health concerns that the U.S. Hispanic population faces are heart disease, cancer, stroke, obesity and diabetes, asthma, HIV/AIDS and suicide.  The Latino population is not a homogeneous one, and health issues vary depending on country of origin and lifestyle.  

In addition, one added challenge the community faces as a whole is that of having the highest uninsured rates of all demographics in the country, according to The Office of Minority Health.  This is one of the reasons that staying informed and taking proactive steps about how to best take care of one’s physical and mental health is of the utmost importance to the U.S. Hispanic community.

Sandra Silva has a strong background in health and journalism. She worked as a sports psychologist for different soccer clubs in Colombia and has certifications in therapeutic massage, Reiki and crystal therapy.  She has worked as a featured columnist, staff writer, presentation editor and associate editor for a variety of U.S. newspapers such as the Naples Sun Times, Tiempos de Sol, Marco Eagle Newspaper and ETC Magazine, and as editor and guide of Nueva Era in About.com.
