March 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Homeowners looking to cut their carbon emissions as well as their fuel bills are invited to visit the Calor stand at The National Homebuilding and Renovating Show, taking place at the NEC Birmingham from March 29 to April 1.

Calor is the UK’s leading distributor of LPG, and it is a fact that significant carbon reductions – and fuel savings – can be achieved by replacing an old oil heating system with LPG – proven to be the cleanest fossil fuel in off-mains gas areas.

A recent independent report, which compared Calor LPG with oil, shows that by replacing an old oil heating system with LPG, a building’s CO2 emissions can be cut by over 22%*.

Even more significantly, if you combine LPG with a CHP unit – combined heat and power technology that not only provides heat but also produces electricity –carbon savings increase to over 31%, while overall energy savings can reach as much as 50%*.

For people looking to build their own home, the same independent report showed that installing Calor LPG heating in domestic new build developments can save as much as £4,500 in the cost of each dwelling.

This is possible because LPG’s lower CO2 levels compared to oil means that fewer emission mitigation measures – such as solar panels costing up to £3,450 – are needed to meet the current building regulations. Plus, if you add another £1,000 for a typical oil tank, the cost rises even more.

“We look forward to welcoming people on to our stand at The National Homebuilding and Renovating Show,” said Calor’s Head of Innovation Paul Riding.

“People living in off-mains areas can benefit from the same carbon reductions and fuel savings as those in mains areas. By using LPG and integrating it with renewable technologies, homeowners will see some significant savings.”

Visit Calor on stand K152 at The National Homebuilding and Renovating Show, NEC Birmingham, from March 29 to April 1.
