“I am very happy about our council winning the Greater Than 2010: Raise the Base contest,” stated Cameron M. Carter, President of the Howard County Youth Council. “Growth in our membership means more possibilities for positive influence in Howard County. We look forward to bringing about positive change and awareness about the NAACP. ”
The youth council members are determined leaders who stand in the gap for civil rights on behalf of all youth. This put them in the forefront to win another National campaign. In 2011, the Howard County Youth Council was a winner for the 75th Anniversary of the Youth & College Division’s first National Membership Campaign Y75. The Y75 campaign goal was to sell and report at least 75 new memberships or more in a 60 day period.
“We are very proud that one of our Youth & College units, the Howard County Youth Council, is taking a leadership role,” stated Gerald Stansbury, President of the Maryland State Conference. “As the largest Youth & College unit in Maryland, this youth council is an exemplarily model for other youth councils.”
