Follow on Google News | 3 Speak to Montgomery County Toastmasters on 3-6-12The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro met at the Challacombe house on Tuesday March 6, 2012. 13 members were present as was 1 returning guest. 3 gave prepared presentations to the club: Mike Meier, Dennis Viehweg & Ryan Goodall.
By: Mont-Co TM club The three prepared speakers were club members Dennis Viehweg TM, Mike Meier DTM and Ryan Goodall CC. Dennis delivered just his 3rd speech as a Toastmasters member. His talk was about his volunteerism with the Litchfield "Meals on Wheels" program. Viehweg previously received an award from the organization that he's been assisting for many years. His passion for this wonderful cause was evident. Mike Meier is a 7-year veteran Toastmasters International member who is also a self published author. Meier has written a book about things to know while traveling in China, which is called "A Focused Pursuit In China". His speech was called "From Paper to Published". He encouraged those in the audience who have ever considered writing a book to get theirs published someday as well. Mike then shared some pointers on doing so. Ryan Goodall then gave an advanced manual speech project from the 'Speaking to Inform' manual. The actual project was 'The Abstract Concept'. His speech was titled "Specific Policies of Governments" Toastmaster Alan Saeger coordinated the impromptu speaking part of the program, with Bill Guthrie winning the 'Best Table Topic Speaker' award. The club will next meet at the Challacombe House in Hillsboro on Tuesday March 20th from 7 to 8 PM. All area residents who are interested in becoming better leaders and / or communicators are encouraged to attend.
