Novelist Lon Dee to Hold Charity Event to Recognize World Down Syndrome Day

The United Nations officially recognizes the seventh annual World Down Syndrome Day that will be celebrated March 21.

The day is set aside for events and activities around the world to help raise awareness of Down syndrome and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities.

In recognition of this day, novelist Lon Dee has scheduled a charity benefit event running March 20 – 22.

Dee is the father of an eleven-year-old son with Down syndrome, and has recently published a novel titled The Power of Powers, featuring a main character with Down syndrome.

Dee will donate 50 percent of all pre-tax proceeds for any worldwide sales of The Power of Powers that occur March 20 – 22. The donation will go to Down Syndrome International, to directly improve the lives of people with Down syndrome around the world.

The Power of Powers tells the story of two modern day teenagers who get transported back to ancient China. There they meet a unique young girl who can communicate with mythical gods. The gods charge the children to harness the magic of a powerful ancient relic to prevent a looming war and usher in a new dynasty and era of peace.

Loosely based on historical events, The Power of Powers is a full-length novel for the upper middle-grade and young adult markets, available in paperback and multiple e-book formats.

Down Syndrome International, a nonprofit charity located in the United Kingdom is sponsoring the global celebration.

Find information about the benefit, connect with Lon Dee, and purchase the book at
