In recognition of Black Marriage Day, CHAARM has partnered with nationally renowned Psychotherapist, Dr. Dwayne Buckingham of R.E.A.L. Horizons Consulting Service, LLC.
Dr. Buckingham will host an exclusive book signing and lecture discussion at St. Peter AME Church located at 4730 Margaretta Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63115.
Dr. Buckingham is a strong advocate for marriage and relationship therapy. With more than 69% of Black Children being born out of wedlock, Dr. Buckingham encourages African Americans to dialogue and learn about the psychological and social components of this tragedy while understanding the importance of the institute of marriage. Dr. Buckingham correlates that the perception of marriage begins in childhood. He states that “Parents play vital roles in their children’s lives and often shape their views and beliefs about marriage. A woman’s ability to achieve marital satisfaction begins in her childhood, not adulthood.”
Dr. Dwayne Buckingham will autograph copies of his newly released book entitled, “Can Black Women Achieve Marital Satisfaction?”
This community empowerment event is for anyone who wants to gain insight about the parent-child relationship and its impact on adult behavior. Also, dinner will be available for individuals who would like to nurture their bodies while they nurture their minds. ***Must register on line for the dinner.
