BMW conducts one day Driver Training Programme in Chennai

BMW India, the subsidiary of German premium car manufacturer BMW has launched a Driver Training Programme in its home turf of Chennai today.

March 17, 2012 - PRLog -- BMW India, the subsidiary of German premium car manufacturer BMW has launched a Driver Training Programme in its home turf of Chennai today. The one-day programme was held at Madras Sports Club at Irungattukotai on the outskirts of the city. This is part of BMW DTP in India for patrons and prospective buyers of BMW.

Initially, the BMW DTP is being held at Delhi, Chennai and NCR from February to March this year. As part of the initiative, BMW India dealership in Chennai, Delhi and Gurgaon are taking part in the training programme.

While speaking about the initiative, Dr Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW Group India said: "This is a signature training programme to improve the driving skills, handling, reaction time and awareness of the proud owners of BMW. The aim is to provide an opportunity to know the capabilities of a BMW car better and experience the superior technology of BMW. What is more, the training programme is specially designed to help its customers to overcome potential hazards in day-to-day driving".

Real time tests were demonstrated at the race track adjacent to Hyundai India plant, which included scribes from the automotive arena. Before the test, three expert trainers, one from Germany, another from Malaysia and the third one from India, take a quick presentation tour of the training programme before taking the drivers on the track.

Drawing on the extensive experience and indebth expertise, these instructors took the motorists through various driving techniques starting from basics such as the appropriate seating position and steering wheel posture to the right steering technique, skilled avoidance manoevres, emergency and target braking, dynamic lane changes and deliberately induced understeering or oversteering on bends.
