American Cable Association Announces Appointment Of Three New Board Members

Kate Adams of James Cable, John Conrad of Liberty Cablevision and Dave Keefe of Atlantic Broadband Expand ACA Board's Executive Experience and Leadership Diversity

March 16, 2012 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, D.C., March 16, 2012 - The American Cable Association announced today the addition of three new board members, highlighting the trade group's commitment to attracting diverse, dedicated and experienced individuals who are company executives willing to serve at the highest leadership level within the independent cable community.

Joining the ACA Board are Kate Adams, CEO of James Cable in Braintree, Mass.; John Conrad, Legal Affairs Director of Liberty Cablevision in Luquillo, Puerto Rico; and Dave Keefe, CEO of Atlantic Broadband in Quincy, Mass. These new leaders provide the ACA Board with 20 voting members.

"I am very pleased that Kate, John and Dave have joined the ACA Board at such a crucial time in terms of the policy challenges we face as an organization," said ACA Chairwoman Colleen Abdoulah, who is Chairwoman and CEO of WOW! Internet, Cable and Phone. "Their background as tested cable industry executives will greatly assist the ACA Board in moving ahead with finding solutions to the critical issues of our day, including retransmission consent and access to content on fair and reasonable terms."

ACA Vice Chairman Robert Gessner, who is President of Massillon Cable TV, hailed the appointments, saying all three executives would contribute their vast knowledge of the communications industry to the trade group's mission of serving small and midsize cable operators that provide world-class communications services to hometown America.

ACA President and CEO Matthew M. Polka said the expanded ACA Board would strengthen ACA's ability to promote the interests of its Member companies on a host of public policy issues.

"The ACA Board is in wonderful hands under Chairwoman Abdoulah and Vice Chairman Gessner, and bringing on Kate, John, and Dave will only add to the ACA Board's character and ability to achieve favorable policy outcomes in Washington, D.C.," Polka said.

Adams and Conrad, each appointed to three-year terms by the ACA Board, were assigned to fill new Board seats.  Keefe is filling the recently vacated seat of Scott Widham, CEO and Founder of CoBridge Communications. The ACA Board, which convenes quarterly, most recently met March 13 in Washington, D.C., at the start of the 19th annual ACA Summit, the cable industry's marquee event for independent cable operators.
