Variable cost printing available on the UTAX copiers is based on dividing your colour printing across 3 levels. As a result you only pay for the amount of colour you print.  For example taking a company that printed their own letterheads that contained their company colour logo. Normally, they would pay the full price for their colour print. On the other hand, with variable cost printing the company would only pay for the colour used on the logo which in fact is a lower percentage used of colour vs. an entire documented printed in colour.

In real terms on average you could be paying around 5p for a colour copy, but in this instance we have demonstrated that the company would charge only 1p a copy. Showing a reduced cost and more of a realistic portrayal of how much colour a company really uses.
