IndianArtCollectors.com this fortnight brings to you the colorful work of Deepankar Majumdar- An artist for whom painting is the source through which he can express himself.  Deepankar is amongst that rare breed of artists who have been well trained and taught in technical nuances of the fine arts before they let their thoughts rule the roost. This is especially so in the current art scene where holding a brush seems to qualify one as an artist. His style of work is an interesting and novel fusion of the Bengal School and abstract cubic forms. His paintings cast a shadow of iconography and expression- having a strong blend of bright colors with a touch of transparency. Deepankar’s paintings depict the western fragrance upon the Indian outlook.

Always drawn to visual art forms, Deepankar never thought of pursuing anything else in life and as he humbly puts it “Painting is my passion first and profession later”. Deepankar's work depicts the language of colors. He draws colorful compositions inspired by nature objects etc. According to him these colors explore the world they live in of inspiration & aspirations, joys & fear.The color and shape of paintings can be enjoyed visually ,they can not be described through mere language. He believes in painting not what he sees but he realizes. "I am influenced by my surrounding environment. My works conjures up before viewer’s vision a dream of beauty. My environmental projection is set up with the different shapes, different mood of human character, and rhythm of life" quotes Majumdar. He tries to draw a pictorial language on his canvas.  For his paintings he uses very thick colors along with gum and wash the canvas repeatedly so as to ensure longevity and luster of paintings.
