In her new collection Maya Hansen not only focuses on corsets, she also experimented with other garments, such as dresses, blazers and capelines. She shows that the corset can be combined with skirt, jackets or can be the body of a dress. She added burlesque details to garments and lingerie, by using a special technique, which also was applied to the dresses. She was mixing antique patterns and fabrics from other centuries with her elegant gowns and masterfully tailored corsetry which still were her signature items throughout all her collection.
Maya Hansen is a Spanish designer who is specialized in corset couture. Her beautiful corsets combine modern design aesthetics with the antique techniques of corsetry. All her undergarments are made with a pure silk lining and stainless steel mesh double boning with detailing that should be shown off rather than hidden beneath clothes.
Maya Hansen was born in Madrid in 1978, from Argentinean father and Danish mother, Maya Carbajal Alex-Hansen. She graduated from Madrid Fashion Design Institute in 2002. She is the winner of the Spanish ICEP Port Fashion in Awards in 2000 and the CSDMM (Centro Superior de Diseño de Moda de Madrid) is, with a small production team, the core of Maya Hansen, founded in 2004 and based in Madrid. Maya Hansen produces all her goods in Spanish workshops.
