The Rangers, on the other hand, are making a playoff push in the East. The surge in popularity of the NHL has become apparent league wide this season with increased attendance and ticket price. Ranger players Henrik Lundqvist and Marian Gaborik have had All-Star caliber seasons. Only 7 teams boast a higher average ticket price than the Rangers, all 7 primarily in Canadian markets. But the ticket hike is due not because of both team's successes but because of a second series of renovations that will take place this upcoming summer.
Upper level seats will be adjusted offering fans better views of the court and ice. Additionally, the Knicks are adding more than 50 additional suites accompanied by larger concourses. At the end of the day, the Knicks are doing what many professional franchises should have done instead of opting for a new home; renovate. No matter what the price of tickets are, New York fans are still going to buy up the tickets.
