New paperback release, “Tailgunner”, a fiction war and love novel, gets its second wind.

March 15, 2012 - PRLog -- In case you haven’t read our press releases, we’ve been on a crusade to document the life of a young man thrown into the role of warrior in 1942.

Nineteen, trained on Browning machine guns mounted in the tail end of a heavy bomber and ready to defend the free world, even to the death, Staff Sergeant Walt Remke tries to cope with the enormity of world events surrounding him.

Also, one of his experiences on a more personal level involves Walt’s love affair with Ilona - a scorching hot singer from the Cabaret district.

Only a year earlier, his life consisted of attending high school, dating his home-town girlfriend and caring for his younger siblings. Follow Walt through a painful time of leaving everyone behind to learn the skills of an airman. Seated backward in the rear of a trainer aircraft, he practiced firing dual 50 caliber guns at fast moving targets.

In the clutches of war, bear witness as Walt engages the best of Hitler’s Luftwaffe with a barrage of hot lead. And if he survives this air to air combat, smell black powder from flak, exploding just below the belly of your plane while the bombardier lines up his Norden Bombsight.

Lucas Film took a bold step forward this year, with the release of its World War Two movie – “Red Tails” -- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485985 .  In this fictional story, inspired by real events, Lucas Film recounts the Tuskegee airmen’s brave exploits as B-17 bomber escorts. Flying North American P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft, they protected the flying fortresses by shooting down many of Germany’s Luftwaffe.

In “Tailgunner“, the B-17s complemented the heroic efforts of those types of escorts. After arriving at the bomb site intact, they delivered massive destruction to the core of Hitler’s Third Reich.
