Theresa M. Moore Withdraws From Book Signing Event

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 15, 2012 - Having attempted to comply in a timely manner with contradictory and confusing instructions issued by the event's managers, Ms. Moore was "uninvited" to the event after having been already accepted by Mysterious Galaxy bookstore as a cosigner with a group of other authors at its grand opening in Redondo Beach. Citing irreconcilable personal differences between her and the event's managers, and noting a clear breach of contract, Ms. Moore has elected to withdraw from all further participation in the GLAWS organization and its programs.

"It appears that whatever they felt about me personally bled into their work with me, and their sudden and arbitrary decision gave me no consideration and betrayed my trust. They appear to know nothing about contract law and their breach of contract with me was a violation of GLAWS's core principles," Moore said. "The Greater Los Angeles Writers Society's motto is 'authors mentoring other authors', but if this is mentoring they have gone against that goal in denying me the full benefits of my membership. I was a relatively new member yet they treated me with disrespect and arrogant disregard in pushing me out of an event to which I was fully committed."

Ms. Moore had already paid to be included in the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books booth as a participating author but has since withdrawn from that event. All moneys have been refunded. Ms. Moore has also elected not to sue for breach at this time as the cost and effort of pursuing litigation would be "a waste of time and money on a situation which could have been avoided by not joining an organization which engages in such petty internal politics."

Mysterious Galaxy bookstore was not involved in the conflict and is held blameless.
