Sutherland Asbill & Brennan Attorneys Earn 2012 Texas Rising Stars Honors

March 15, 2012 - PRLog -- HOUSTON (Thursday, March 15, 2012) – The Houston office of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is proud to announce that partners David Baay and Daniel Johnson and associate Juan Garcia are highlighted in the 2012 Texas Rising Stars listing.

The annual list of Texas’ top up-and-coming lawyers is compiled by Thomson Reuters Legal division based on a statewide poll of attorneys. Nominees must be age 40 or younger or have been in practice for fewer than 10 years. Only 2.5 percent of Texas attorneys are included in the list, which appears in the April 2012 editions of Texas Monthly and Texas Rising Stars magazines.

Mr. Baay handles complex commercial litigation primarily in the energy, transportation and health care industries. He earned his law degree from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University.

Mr. Johnson focuses his practice on offshore and energy-related insurance and commercial litigation. He recently earned a spot on the Houston Business Journal “40 Under 40” listing of the city’s top young business professionals. Valedictorian of his class at South Texas College of Law, Mr. Johnson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas.

Mr. Garcia handles a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, including business torts, personal injury defense and general contract disputes. He earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from South Texas College of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston.

Sutherland opened its Houston office with a single attorney in 2002 and since has grown to include more than 35 full-time attorneys and a substantial long-term contract attorney team. In Houston, Sutherland primarily serves the energy industry in litigation, transactional, regulatory, and environmental matters.
