Minister Addressing in the conference
March 15, 2012 - PRLog -- The conference was addressed by Shri Rabiranjan Chattopadhyay, Minister, Technical Education, Govt. of West Bengal as Chief Guest along with Deb Narayan Bandyopadhyay, Professor  & Head, Dept of English, Burdwan University as well as Secretary, Indian Association for Study of Australia, Eastern Region. During the inaugural speech, the State Minister highlighted the essence of humanities as a subject in technical institutions especially in engineering colleges. He said that man and technology should move hand in hand and unless we understand the needs of human mind where values can be inculcated, we will not be able to apply technology for the welfare of man-kind. So such initiative by educational institutions is very much required for the upliftment of the society. Moreover in the conference, Prof. Deb Narayan Bandyopadhyay also highlighted the fact that every year many students are migrating to Australia for further studies in literature, science and technology. Apart from this, Australian studies had established a close link with Science and Technology as well as in other disciplines of study in India. Such intermingling of culture is necessary for advancement of education in the society. But unfortunately such initiatives are not very frequent in educational institutions. In the conference, Shri Rabiranjan Chattopadhyay was conferred with Life-time membership award by Indian Association for Study of Australia, along with Shri Probir Roy, Executive Director, Heritage Group of Institutions Kolkata and Dr. Pranay Chaudhuri, Principal, Heritage Institute of Technology. The National Conference was also addressed by Shri Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage, Prof. B B Paira, Director, Heritage, Prof. Kalidas Misra, Sambalpur University, Assistant Prof. Arindam Das, Department of Humanities, Heritage who is also a student of Shri Rabiranjan Chattopadhyay.
