Free Foreclosure Bus Tours Resuming in Atlanta

The Atlanta Foreclosure Bus is making its return to the Atlanta real estate market for its third season in April 2012.

PRLog - Mar. 14, 2012 - ATLANTA -- The free foreclosure bus tours began in 2010 when local Realtors Les and Cindy Crane purchased and renovated a small bus. While it may seem like a bus on the outside (complete with an advertising wrap), the interior has been completely gutted and retro-fitted with the comforts of a limousine.  The Atlanta Foreclosure Bus was an instant hit, even gaining a spot in a Clark Howard story on foreclosures in its inaugural year. The Cranes have continued to tweak and perfect the Foreclosure Bus so that it now offers a two and a half hour, rolling educational tour of the metro Atlanta foreclosure market.

“There are still a lot of myths about foreclosures out there,” explains Realtor Cindy Crane, who has worked exclusively in the foreclosure/REO market since 1989. “For instance, most people don’t realize you can have the property inspected and an all-cash deal is not required. You can get financing.”

Crane said her team quickly realized having the tour every weekend was too much and trying to conduct foreclosure tours during football season or the year-end holidays proved to be challenging. So, in 2012, Crane’s real estate team, known as the Atlanta Metro REO Team, plans to begin the tours again in April and run through August.

Foreclosure tours, which include a complimentary lunch, will take place the second Saturday of each month.  Reserving a space ahead of time is suggested. The tours will leave at 10 a.m. from the Prudential Georgia Realty office in Alpharetta at 11525 Haynes Bridge Road.

Potential home buyers and investors are taken out for two hours and are given the chance to view, firsthand, several properties in the Alpharetta area.

“We show them examples of a HUD home, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac foreclosures, a luxury home foreclosure, a home that has been repaired and one that has not, as well as an investor ‘fixer upper.’ It gives consumers an idea of what to look for in a foreclosure.”

The Atlanta Foreclosure Bus then returns to the Prudential office, where the Crane team has lunch waiting for them. While they eat, guests have the opportunity to ask questions of a home inspector, a foreclosure attorney and a lender.

“It’s a no-pressure, low key environment where they can get experts to answer questions on everything from the cost of specific repairs to mortgages.”

With nearly one in four listed properties in metro Atlanta being a foreclosure, Crane says the bus tour has been very popular with guests. And with the rental market becoming very hot with the increased demand from those who have experienced foreclosure or a short sale, more people are considering becoming investors and landlords. This foreclosure tour is also ideal for those who are new to real estate investing as it provides important information about how to find and purchase the right properties.

About Cindy Crane and the Atlanta Metro REO Team
A former teacher, Cindy Crane has been in real estate more than two decades. She has focused exclusively on foreclosures/REOs since 1989 and has gradually grown the Atlanta Metro REO Team into a team of eight REO agents.

For the last few years, the Atlanta Metro REO Team has been the #1 team with Prudential Georgia Realty and in all of Georgia for Prudential. Crane’s team had more than 400 sales in 2011 and over 500 sales in 2010, which resulted in being named the #1 team for all of Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, a company with more than 50,000 agents in North America.

Always committed to giving back to their community, those same years the Cranes donated $100 from each closing to several charities. As a result, the Atlanta Metro REO Team were able to support such charities as the Atlanta Humane Society, the Humane Society of Forsyth County, a church food pantry, The Drake House, and the Build an Ark Animal Rescue Foundation. This year, they are using proceeds from each closing to support their new program, Homeroom for Hounds, in Forsyth County.
