Playing for Gold this St. Patrick's Day, Media and Community vie for the Kerr Cup

March 14, 2012 - PRLog -- OAKVILLE, ONTARIO — On Saturday, March 17, 2012, road hockey enthusiasts of all ages will once again descend upon Kerr Street (between Rebecca and Lakeshore). In addition to supporting the Kerr Street Ministries, this year’s proceeds will also benefit Home Suite Hope.

Sign-in begins promptly at 8:00 am, closing at 8:45 am. (Advance registration is required.) Players are invited to enjoy a complimentary pancake breakfast from Cora’s.  Additional sponsors include the Kerr Village BIA, Oakville Scion, CareerBuilder, Cameron’s Brewing Co., Hopedale Bowl, Oakville Blades, Rusty Skates, Canlan Ice Sports, Hustler Boardshop, The Sanctuary, Tim Hortons and Global View Capital Advisors. This all day event will conclude at approximately 5pm with the presentation of the esteemed Kerr Cup to the Divisional Winners.

Says BIA Executive Director Richard Messer, about the impact of this highly anticipated annual event, “The 3on3 tournament has raised more than $50,000 for charity since its inception in 2006. But it’s so much more than a fundraiser — it’s a community builder. A venue like this one truly helps to create a feeling of belonging and a sense of neighbourhood pride.” He also thanked the 2012 tournament sponsors.

An exciting new addition to the March 17 tournament is the Media Challenge. Donate a loonie to your favourite celebrities – CTS, The Weather Network, Animation Nation Army, CHCH, and TVCogeco – as they too play for charity.  Over 20 teams have already registered and there is still room for a few more.  Registration can found at: 3on3roadhockey.ca/
                                    
The Kerr Street Ministries helps and gives hope to Oakville’s most vulnerable citizens, providing tangible support and care to children, youth and low income families. Home Suite Hope offers local solutions to local homelessness. Using existing housing stock, in a variety of ownership and organizational formats, this organization provides sustainable low-cost housing in a shared living environment.
