March 14, 2012 - PRLog -- (MILLBURN, NJ) March 14, 2012 –MoleSafe USA, the world’s most advanced melanoma screening program, will unveil the DermLite cam, the newest, top-of-the-line dermoscopic camera developed by MoleMap/MoleSafe and manufactured by 3Gen for use in the short-term monitoring and timely comparison of moles and other skin lesions by dermatologists and dermatologic oncologists.  Within the DermLite cam is myMoleSafe Portal, a new secure cloud based storage and application facility for patients and their doctors that allows both parties to be provided with access to their MoleSafe melanogram from any device, using any browser.  The introduction of these important technologies will take place at the 70th Annual American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Meeting, the world's largest and most comprehensive dermatologic educational event, on March 16 to 20 in San Diego, California.

The DermLite cam is a high tech camera that greatly simplifies the process of short-term mole monitoring for dermatology professionals.   Studies have conclusively proven the vital role that professional, high-definition monitoring of moles and skin lesions plays in early melanoma detection, particularly in at-risk patients.  By enabling more dermatologists to effectively and professionally capture clinically-important mole and skin lesions, and to store those images in an electronic medical records database for timely comparison, or for clinical evaluation in a telemedicine situation, MoleSafe will significantly advance this emerging field.

The myMoleSafe Portal is a highly interactive application that displays the complete pictorial record of the patient’s moles at a microscopic level as well as the location of these moles on their body map, allowing the patient and their doctor to track even the most subtle changes.  myMoleSafe Portal provides patients with on-going peace of  mind as they now have the ability to share their MoleSafe melanogram with their doctor during their regular clinical skin examinations. By having this very detailed dermoscopic record of the patient’s moles on their device (computer, tablet or smart phone), the physician is provided with a visual reference against which he can compare his visual examination of the moles concerning the patient.

“The DermLite cam and myMoleSafe Portal provide the easiest, most thorough and secure imaging of lesions combined with the ability to track even the most subtle changes needed for early detection and monitoring of melanoma and other skin cancers,” said Dr. Richard Bezozo, President of MoleSafe USA. “We will be illustrating the power and effectiveness of this remarkable camera on a model ‘patient’ in our booth at the AAD meeting, providing a hands-on demonstration of the ease-of-use and the quality of the images we can obtain.”

The DermLite cam, together with myMoleSafe Portal, are revolutionizing the way physicians examine lesions by not only providing an ultra-clear image, but by making this image more accessible and more quickly available than ever.  The DermLite cam captures dermoscopic-quality images of lesions, including many that are barely visible within the epidermis.  Dermatology professionals will use the DermLite cam to document these lesions, both in an extreme close-up view, but also through a clinical macro shot of the problematic area, which can be color and sharpness-enhanced by toggling to polarized and non-polarized modes.  The camera also allows users to review photos directly on its high-resolution screen, and to write them directly on a standard SD card.  The DermLite is compatible with a wireless eyeFi™ SD card which can automatically transfer images directly to a PC or Mac or iPad within seconds.  This provides physicians and patients the opportunity to view side-by-side images of the problematic area taken at different times directly on their laptop or tablet.

Each year thousands of clinicians, experts and organizations in the dermatology field attend the AAD meeting to showcase their latest findings and advancements.  MoleSafe will be exhibiting at booth #4349 at the AAD meeting.  For more information on MoleSafe, please visit www.molesafe.com.
